We are the Cultural Heritage Restoration Foundation (www.chrf.or.kr), an NGO that researches and brings back taken Korean artifacts that are abroad, and also pursues other cultural heritage related projects.
Every year we have a debate competition for Korean students, and this year we’re expanding the project to include an “international UCC contest”. The goal is to celebrate people’s interest in Korean cultural heritage (the law recently amended calling cultural ‘artifacts’ and ‘objects’ to ‘heritage’, valuing the importance of all types of culture and the need to preserve and pass them down), and to recognize the meaning of ‘cultural heritage’ in our individual lives for those not just in Korea, but everywhere!
UCC means user-created content, so it can be anything you want to make from photographs, videos to essays.
There are no limits (age, nationality, etc.) as to who can submit a piece (submit to chrf@daum.net). You don’t have to be in Korea and if you’re abroad, that’s great too!
The topic is quite free as long as it’s related to cultural heritage (preferably Korean cultural heritage). Some examples might be what your experience with learning about Korean cultural artifacts has been like, comparing Korean cultural heritage to yours, etc.
The project is organized by our foundation along with other groups and government associations, and there will be awards at the end as well.
